Borders must die!!!!

gwen with axe
Okay,
last week I go into the local Borders in order to reserve my very own special hoopy doo edition of Twilight.  I even am ready to pay for it, but the worman just took my name and number and said if there was a problem she'd call and leave a message.  No mention of special circumstances on holding said item, just, "if you don't get a call then everything is okay"
Yeah, so yesterday, after suffering through a three hour baby shower for someone in the family, I truck my pregnant and sick self down to Borders to pick up my booty so that I can go home, flop on the couch and die.

I get to Borders and give them my name....my name is mysteriously not on the list......excuse me??
"Oh, I'm sorry maam, we only held them till close of business yesterday, then they went back on the availability list for the next set of reserve customers."  Whattt!!!!!  The movie only came out on saturday, you couldn't even hold it for me until the close of business the next day, like you do everything else???!!!  Needless to say, i was pissed, since this is the second time I've reserved something that would be coming out that wasn't actually held for me.  I really want to get hold of a manager and give them a piece of my mind, but what good would it do?  Now, gods know when I'll be able to get my extra special hoopy doo copy.  I had to settle for Best Buy, when even target was sold out of their extra special three disc copy.

grrrrr.

I'm miffed.....

my first public ritual in aeons and bleeps

and I was sick as a frickin' dog.  as was one other person, and another had a migraine, and we all had to pull a ritual out of that somewhere.

Somehow, we did it and it was darn good!  To add to all that, the Coven made the front page of the Erie Times News, as well as having a video posted on goerie.com of selected parts of the rite.  That was interesting to press play and see all of us doing parts of the ritual for a local reporter and her cameraman.  Bizarre.

I have to say, I'm glad I have a Group that I can do that with, and know that even when we're sick we'll still pull it together and get the job done  :)  I was worried when I went past the sniffles and plowed into the raging fever that it was gonna be a hard night.  I napped until the last second.  Fortunately for me, the UU has comfy broken in couches to crash on.

anywhoo, I had a *squee* type of moment, I had to share....

Motley Freakin' Crue!!!!

Dude, really.

Best Freakin' concert EVAR!!!!!  I'm still deaf.  We were close enough to the stage that when the really big pyrotechnics and flames went off, you could feel the heat!!  The best part is, we have pics, so the Fetus (who will go by Mina when she's born) will get to see pics of her first concert while she was still in the womb.

It was really weird though, the Mayor of the city came out and gave them an official plaque and announced that this was Motley Crue day in Erie.  Said he was a fan from way back...that was disturbing.  It was cool though, in between songs, Nikki Sixx saw this like 7 year old girl in the audience and brought her up on stage...that was cute, started talking about how some of us were her age when we started rocking out to the Crue and how it was cool that our kids are little metal heads too.  :)

Surprisingly enough all of the opening bands kicked a** too.  I was shocked but even Hinder was decent, as long as you ignored that stupid girlfriend song.

anywhoo....completely tired now,,,

concert and clothes

so, as some of you know i am, in fact, going to be attending the Motley Crue extravganza next weekend.  (snoopy dance ensues)  Yesterday, I had the displeasure of shopping for clothing to wear to said event, since I am just starting to enter the "moose" stage of my pregnancy, and all of my cool concert going clothes won't fit me anymore  :(

I was almost forced to slit my wrists in defeat....I really think there needs to be a clothing store for pregnant ladies that refuse to wear pastels....I mean honestly.  It doesn't even really have to be goth....but, really?  You want me to wear that shtuff?  I saw so many pastel shirts and dresses yesterday, I think I had nightmares about it.  I ended up with a jean skirt with a frayed hem that I hated on the hanger, but liked it on me.  And a plain black pregger shirt and a sort of dark green pregger shirt.....what i wouldn't give for a hot topic type outfit right now.

Anywhoo, I am still excited about the concert, despite the fact that I am going with three women who will probably be wasted before the concert even gets going (my PA, her friend from Detroit, and one of my Doc's from work)  Not that I mind that they will be drinking, but I have been craving Guinness for months now!!!

My PA jokes that she will be there right after I give birth with a direct line IV of something good...or a mug of Guinness, my choice  :)  Little does she know, that I will find a way to have a Guinness, just have to wait until the nurses and doc are occupado.  Not that I'm a lush as you all well know, but when you can't have anything for so long......well, you get fixated on it, ya know?

I Just had to post that I got two Yule gifties from my friend mikey, who definately got the I love you award for the year  :)  First he got me the twilight illustrated movie companion...which I had gone to buy at borders and they were sold out and couldn't get more from their distributer....so that was awesome and drool-worthy.  then he goes the extra mile and gets me Paint it Black: A Guide to Gothic Homemaking....very cool  ;)

anywhoo...yeah, since I only got three gifts this year, and two of them rocked....I had to share  :)

Okay
thanx bai

p.s.  Saw Twilight for the 5th time last night....still cool....

Okay, so....we got to hear the future ankle-biter's heartbeat yesterday.  That was pretty darn cool.  Only heard one heartbeat, so pretty sure this is a solo mission.  Sorry to all you who have seen two, I am SOOO only doing this once!!

In other news, I am completely obsessed with Twilight.....I have to go see the movie...again....for the third time, or I just might die.  Yeah, I read the books first.....in a total of 4 days for all books, during a work week.....I know, I'm a freak, what can I say.

Also, work has called us into a meeting.....congratulating us on being lucky enough to work in healthcare and to work for a company that doesn't use credit....ever.....like apparently when they buy a 100,000 dollar pc. of machinery, they pay cash.....hrmmm...why aren't we makin more then boss??  Oh well, at least I'm employed and they say that we are safe and secure in our little healthcare hidey hole.....uh, I know they are still looking for phlebs....for any of you out there that want's to get in on that.....

okay,
bye!!

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

    1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
    2) Italicize those you intend to read.
    3) Underline the books you LOVE.
    4) Reprint this list in your own LJ

35 I've actually read, with more that I own and have intentions to read....I guess i'm not a dumb chick from pennsyltucky after all  :)

    30 Days of Night

    Okay,
So, I'm a vampire fanatic, and I just added another movie to my collection of movies, books, comics and the like.  I picked up 30 Days of night at the store on the way home from work so that we would have something interesting to watch while eating our bloody meat, rice and broccoli.  I have to say, I liked it, it's been a while since a movie actually made me jump, more than once even.  (I think the last one was Event Horizon)  While 30 Days is not for the faint of heart, anyone who likes a good horror flick that actually has a bit of a plot will like it I think.  I did anyway.  The vampires were suitably creepy, and they had jaggedy teeth instead of fangs which was cool, and they kinda hissed a lot.
Anywhoo, thought I'd share that with anyone who cared to read  :)

I had to do this...I found it amusing...

    Dear Santa...

    Dear Santa,

    This year I've been busy!

In February I ruled Asscrackistan as a cruel and heartless dictator (-700 points). Last Saturday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, [info]aspasia93 (-5000 points). Last Monday I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). In October I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points). In August I caught a purse-snatcher who stole [info]mightytart's purse (30 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-6356 points). For Christmas I deserve a moldy sandwich!

    Sincerely,

    And so....

You all know the cat is sick sick sick.  The good news is that AFLAC will pay 100% as long as he's working less than 80% of what is considered full time for him.  *phew*

But, that money comes in bulk and then nothing for weeks...sooo...I pay bills that need paid and then we're poor again.

So.....I am doing a craft fair in December.  I know...I never in my wildest thought I'd be doing this...but I need the extra moola.  I am doing cute Sleds with snowmen painted on them and little wooden boxes and whatnot.  I just wanted to post cause I could take orders if people were willing to pay for my artsy-ness  :)  I haven't decided on prices, but I can guarantee it won't be expensive...any of it.

I will also be willing to barter for items that i might like to have....in the past I have bartered a large pastoral painting I did for a rather nice shawl I had been coveting...it was a great deal in my opinion.

So, that said.  Orders up guys!  Pass the word and all that....every dollar you spend buys cat, dog, fish and rat food for a slightly hungry animal in my house
    :)

The "Cat" is home.  But still not working due to not enough energy to make it through even emptying the dishwasher withough getting tired.  Meeting with the Surgery team next monday in order to discuss his guts....we have to wait until december for the final decision on the Kidney and whether or not it will come out....gods...I hate waiting for anything.  I have no patience, those of you who know me well know this!!

To make matters worse, our friend from college just lost his wife tonight to a battle with Cancer.  It's upsetting in and of itself, but then I think of the fact that the dr's are sure that the "Cat" probably has Cancer in his Kidney and I get scared.  I was a mess while he was in the hospital...I don't know what the hell I would do if he died on me...eck....

Actually , the good parts are, we have AFLAC  and we're covered.  and we had a bit of a nest egg in the bank that's been helping while we're waiting for the AFLAC to kick in...after it does, I have to get the house insulated before it gets cold.

If the mass in his kidney gets diagnosed as Cancer, he gets 5 grand for the kidney....to pay for treatments or whatever...but he has the disability too that will pay for his time off.  The Surgery is scheduled for January 7th...  we plan on using the kidney money to pay off more bills.  And I hope to wrap the basement so it will be insulated and the first floor wont be so cold on the toes.  He tells me his agent had the big C and he used the money to put a new roof on the house....the money is to help pay for things that you need....*shrug*  Apparently you can use it for whatever that may be, medical or otherwise.

Anywhoo....puked enough out of my brain for now...

The cat is home from the hospital, still gonna be down for at least another week.  bleh...he's slowly getting better, but energy is easily drained.  He has to have tons of tests done before December, when we find out for sure weather the kidney is really being removed or not.  The surgery is already scheduled though, for January 7th.

    everyone keep their toes crossed.
